When Losing His Sight Became the Beginning of His Purpose

Hey Friend,

There are conversations that stay with you long after the microphones are turned off.

This was one of them.

As many of you know, my family has walked our own journey with vision loss through our daughter, Finley. Because of that, Jeremy's story wasn't just inspiring—it was deeply personal.

At 19 years old, Jeremy began losing his eyesight almost overnight. In what felt like an instant, the future he had planned disappeared. Golf, independence, and so many of the dreams he had envisioned suddenly seemed out of reach.

But what struck me most wasn't what Jeremy lost.

It was what he found.

His story is a beautiful reminder that God often writes His greatest chapters through the moments we never would have chosen ourselves.

I hope this conversation encourages you as much as it encouraged me.

This Week's Featured Conversation
When Losing His Sight Became the Beginning of His Purpose

At just 19 years old, Jeremy Poincenot was diagnosed with LHON, a rare genetic eye disease that caused him to lose his central vision in a matter of months. What felt like the end of everything became the beginning of an entirely new life.

Today, Jeremy is a World Champion Blind Golfer, an inspirational speaker, husband, father, and living example that adversity does not have the final word. Throughout our conversation, he shares how faith, family, perseverance, and a willingness to adapt helped him discover a purpose far greater than the one he originally imagined.

This isn't simply a story about blindness.

It's a story about hope.

Three Takeaways That Stayed With Me

  1. Your greatest setback may become your greatest calling.

Jeremy never would have chosen blindness, but looking back, he can now see how God used that season to shape a life filled with purpose and impact.

  1. Independence doesn't mean doing life alone.

From his parents and college friends to his wife and guide on the golf course, Jeremy reminds us that accepting help isn't weakness—it often becomes one of our greatest strengths.

  1. Perspective changes everything.

Jeremy could have spent his life focusing on what he lost. Instead, he chose gratitude, resilience, and faith. That decision continues to inspire thousands of people around the world.

Quote of the Week

"The very thing you think is ending your story may be the thing God uses to begin your purpose."

— Inspired by Jeremy's conversation

Reflection

What challenge in your life have you been viewing as an ending that God may actually be using as a beginning?

Take a few minutes this week to reflect on that question.

Sometimes our greatest purpose is waiting on the other side of the hardest season.

Until next week,

Keep choosing hope.
