When God Turns Pain Into Purpose

A Note from Dallas

Hi Friend,

One of the things I've learned over the years is that God rarely wastes our hardest seasons.

In fact, when I look back over my own life, it's often the moments I never would have chosen that have shaped my faith the most.

This week's conversation is incredibly personal to me.

Natalie Tuman isn't just a guest on the podcast—she's a dear friend. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, she and the Tuman Breast Cancer Foundation walked beside my family in ways I'll never forget. They helped provide meals, supported my cold cap treatments, and reminded me that I wasn't fighting alone.

Years before helping me, Natalie faced her own Stage III breast cancer diagnosis. She understands the fear, the waiting, the questions, and the moments when all you can do is trust God one day at a time.

What inspires me most isn't simply that she survived.

It's what she did afterward.

Rather than allowing her pain to become the end of her story, she allowed God to transform it into a ministry that now serves hundreds of women and families walking through breast cancer.

Her story is a beautiful reminder that God doesn't just bring us through difficult seasons—He often uses them to help someone else.

I pray this conversation encourages you as much as it encouraged me.

This Week's Conversation

One unexpected moment changed everything.

After discovering a lump she assumed was nothing more than a clogged milk duct, Natalie's life quickly became filled with scans, biopsies, chemotherapy, surgeries, and uncertainty.

As we talked, one theme kept rising to the surface:

Waiting.

Waiting for answers.

Waiting for treatment.

Waiting for healing.

Waiting to understand what God was doing.

Those seasons of waiting can feel overwhelming, but they're often where God does some of His deepest work in us.

Natalie shared how the very season she never wanted eventually became the foundation of a ministry she never imagined. Today, the Tuman Breast Cancer Foundation provides meals, counseling resources, cold cap assistance, house cleaning, transportation, and practical support for families walking through breast cancer.

It's a story of faith, resilience, and the reminder that God is always writing a bigger story than we can see in the moment.

Three Takeaways

1. Your current season is not your final destination.

One of the most encouraging moments in our conversation came when Natalie said:

"It's a season."

Those three words carry so much hope.

Whatever you're walking through today, remember that seasons change. God never asks us to stay in the valley forever.

2. God can redeem what you never would have chosen.

Natalie never would have chosen breast cancer.

But through her journey, God created a way for hundreds of other families to experience hope and practical care during their own battles.

Sometimes our greatest ministry grows from our deepest wounds.

3. We weren't created to carry life's hardest moments alone.

One of the most powerful parts of our conversation was the reminder that accepting help isn't weakness—it's humility.

Whether it's a meal, a prayer, a conversation, or simply allowing someone to sit beside you, God often answers our prayers through the people He places around us.

Quote of the Week

Watch & Listen

If this conversation encouraged you, would you share it with someone who needs hope today?

Whether they're facing a difficult diagnosis, walking through a season of uncertainty, or simply need the reminder that God hasn't forgotten them, I pray this conversation points them back to Him.

Reflection

What difficult season in your life might God be preparing to use for something greater than you can see today?

Sometimes we don't recognize His purpose while we're walking through the valley.

Looking back, we often realize He was writing a much bigger story all along.

Until next week,

Dallas
